Wrist in Peace
Because Time Deserves Better Stories

What time is it? I think it's about time.
I didn't grow up around Swiss watches. Where I'm from, time was more about the call to dinner — not about tourbillons or tachymeters. But somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the idea that time could be worn, wound, and passed down.
That love eventually turned into The Watch Word.
I'm not here to review watches you'll never own or talk about collections you don't care about. I'm here to share stories — weird, beautiful, human stories — from the world of horology. Maybe give you something to say next time someone asks about your wrist game.
This is issue #1. If you're reading this, you're part of the beginning, which makes you rare. Just like the watches we'll be talking about.
Thank you for being here. Seriously. It means a lot. Now let's see where time takes us.
🕒 The Movement*

⏱️ First Tick
NO-SO LOCO PRICING
It's Christopher Ward again, changing the game with a tourbillon-like aesthetic and a six-day power reserve for under $5K.
PELAGOS GOES DEEP
Tudor’s Pelagos Ultra dives to 1,000 meters with a titanium case and Master Chronometer certification.
SLIMMED GOLDEN RATIO
Bianchet's B 1.618 UltraFino got a titanium tonneau case and ultra-thin tourbillon movement, all designed using the golden ratio.
NAILED IT!
You've seen all kinds of watches, right? Think again.
⌚ Beyond the Dial
Inside The Great Watch Dump
"Spring cleaning" hits different when your watch collection looks like a Swiss vault and your name is Tom Brady or Sylvester Stallone.
Only last year, Brady got rid of 21 watches—some made for him, like a Royal Oak with a diamond name (subtle, right?). Stallone? He sold a $5.4M Grandmaster Chime… still in plastic. He didn't need cash. It's not for charity. Just, you know, vibes.

So what's going on? It's a combination of softening markets, old relationships with auction houses, and collectors buying for the story rather than hype. This might be the perfect time to sell—before the buzz of watch enthusiasts fades away.
Plus, nothing juices an auction like authenticity. "Worn by Brady" still turns heads—even if that head's already wearing a Rolex. Keep in mind: to drive a watch to $1M+, you don't need one rich bidder… you need two with beef.
🕰️ Back in Time
Long before pilots needed GMTs, a sultan did. Longines made the world's first dual-time watch in 1908 for Abdulhamid II, the Ottoman ruler who wanted to track both Paris and Istanbul simultaneously.
The watch had two dials, one for local time and one for European time, and was engraved with an imperial crescent. Decades before Rolex made the GMT cool, the Ottomans had already synchronized East and West—without leaving their palace.
📖 Horolography
Tourbillon (tor-bee-yon)
Invented in 1801 by Breguet, the tourbillon was meant to fight gravity. It’s a rotating cage for the escapement, helping to even out timing errors in pocket watches. Basically, it's an addition to watch escapements that enhances accuracy. Is it necessary today? Nope. Is it mesmerizing, complicated, and crazy expensive? Absolutely!
